Kids Movie Player shows your children only the videos you choose. There are no ads, no "up next" suggestions, and
no surprise videos. Everything plays from your own computer, over your home Wi-Fi.
Setup takes about 15 minutes. You need:
On your computer, open File Explorer (the yellow folder on the taskbar) and go to Documents. Make a new folder there called Kids Videos (right-click an empty spot → New → Folder).
Then make folders inside it, like this:
1. Inside Kids Videos, make Movies and TV Shows. Any other folder you add, like Dance Songs or Bedtime Stories, becomes its own button in the app.
2. Drop your movies into Movies.
3. In TV Shows, make one folder for each show.
4. Put the episodes in the show's folder. Start each name with its number (01, 02, 03...) so they play in order.
Optional: if a show has seasons, make a folder for each season and put its episodes inside.
Tips:
01, 02...). When one ends, the nextone starts by itself.
Frozen.jpg) to use it as that video's picture. Put cover.jpg in a folder to use it for the folder or show. If you don't, the program takes a picture from the
video itself.
Kids Videos folder from Step 1.192.168.1.50:8765482915The program starts by itself whenever the computer starts. To see the page again, open Kids Movie Player Library
from the Start menu.
If Windows asks whether to allow the program on networks, choose Private networks and click Allow.
Otherwise the Roku can't reach it.
Your videos appear. To change these settings later, press the \* button on the Roku remote.
Typing on a TV is slow. When the keyboard is open, scan the code in the corner with your phone to type on your phone.
Your Roku remembers where each video was stopped and what was watched recently.
Copy new videos into the folders. They appear in the app within about a minute. If not, press \* and then
Save and start.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Can't reach the library" | Make sure the computer is on and awake, and the program is running. Check the address on the program's page and type it again (press *). The Roku and the computer must be on the same Wi-Fi. |
| The computer goes to sleep | Windows Settings → System → Power → Screen and sleep: set "When plugged in, put my device to sleep after" to Never. |
| A video won't play | Convert it to MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio). Free tools like HandBrake can do this. |
| A video plays but has no sound | Its sound is in a format the Roku doesn't support (DTS). Convert it with AAC sound. |
| No pictures | Wait a few minutes after adding videos, since pictures are made in the background. Or add your own .jpg files. |
| The address changed | Your router gave the computer a new address. Type the new one in the app (press *). Your router's settings can give the computer a fixed address. |
Kids Movie Player doesn't collect anything. Your videos, your child's name and what they watch stay on your own
computer and your own Roku. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
